Another kill for Amy Ross. More testament to the teaching skills of Henry of Kent who always makes sure his students' sword skills are good enough to match any Immortal except only the most powerful and skilled of their kind.

And yes, the Watchers are now aware of the Sacred Order since they've managed to infiltrate the ranks of the Order's mortal scribes and support staff. The inner circle of Ravenwood will be aware that anyone who has sought out the secrets of the Order have all died so only a small group of Watchers and Ravenwood Immortals will have access to this information. The Order have spies everywhere so the least amount of people who know, the better.

Still loving your updates, my friend. Nice to hear about Damon Case again. And many previously missing Immortals coming out of the woodwork now the Gathering is upon us....

Before my mum passed away i had done some work on a chronicle i was going to post. As you can imagine, it kind of got put on the back burner for awhile. I've taken some tentative steps into completing it. i'm a bit out of practice and still not 100%, but I've given it a go. Hope you like it...

From the Records of the Sacred Order

All myths and legends are said to be based on kernels of truth. And according to the Order, one such myth is that of Noah’s Ark. The legendary Noah was, according to the Order, actually an Immortal called Utnapishtim, who was forewarned by Immortal prophetess Enki about the coming catastrophe and urged to survive to preserve their race and the knowledge of the Great Immortal Kingdoms of Atlantis, Hyperborea, Lemuria, and Kunlun. The Ark of the legend was, according to the Order, not an actual ark, but either the written records of those kingdoms (the Order have, according to our Watcher team, acquired these sacred scrolls) or pre-Immortal children of the First Immortal Era. The Sacred Order have confirmed that Utnapishtim survived at least until the first millennium AD before being slain by Kotys the Hunter, who subsequently dropped out of sight until re-appearing as the Order’s hitman, The Apostate.

This evidence now means that Darius did not in fact kill the oldest living Immortal of his era since Utnapishtim was still alive at this time (and would have been nearly 8,000 years old!), at least for a few more centuries.

What an ironic turn of even that Christianity's best champions were taken down by Ishtar of Erech, the Sumerian goddess of war and love. While Jerusalem is considered a holy city, Andrew and George still brought the violence of the Game to Ishtar who hadn't had a fight in twenty years and was living peacefully. Still, she trains often and her sword is sharp. Andrew and George didn't last long against Ishtar who fought them both at the same time and won a major double-Quickening, so powerful that Jerusalem's Christian community thought the time of the Rapture had come at last. Well, it did come for the two Champions of Christendom.

Hazeem and Carter ironically died in a similar fashion to how they perished on the TV show; Carter said something to Richie, who had a short fuse, Richie kills Carter, Hazeem hunts down Richie, runs into MacLeod, who challenges and kills Hazeem to protect Richie (though on the show MacLeod also had a score to settle with Hazeem. Here, Carter says something he shouldn't have to the hot-headed Lootje, who fights and kills Carter, Hazeem hunts down Lootje, finds Swenja, who challenges and kills Hazeem to protect Lootje (don't think there was any score to settle this time though). Symmetry.

Warren Cochrane had scores to settle with Steven Keane so that's why he took him out of the Game last May, but what come after Frances Drummond ? Because she is an Englishwoman or becauser There Can Be Only One ? No reason for it by the look of it but Cochrane always was mentally unstable and the Gathering made him lose his mind for good : honestly who would try to take on the fabled Crimson Butterfly ? In the Game, the first victim is innocence, the innocence of children killed too soon, reborn to hunt or be hunted. Kenneth, Bossart, the Coyoteros are prime example of it as is Pilar Gonçalves from England who was taught by Jade el-Amin to use her innocent features as an advantage. Jade and Amanda were similar in all things, including the manner they mentored youg immortals. Trickery, deceit, lies, murder.
Ever since her first death, Pilar has been killing her fair shaire of immortals, a lot of them wanting to use her, but some who weren’t evil. Still she killed, little by little becoming like Kenneth. Her last quarry was Harry Houdini the master escapist who saw clearly through her game and wasn’t above killing an immortal woman hiding behind the face of an innocent child. Needless to say Houdini had to leave Madrid as fast as possible, relocating to Southeast Asia after the local police found the body of Pilar. He couldn't afford to have the body of a child linked to him.

The lost little lamb named Sherilynn Wolpher came after Richie Ryan asking for his help, the bad man was after her, he killed her Immortal friend and she was in danger of being killed. Richie Ryan maybe an eternal teenaged boy but his is not Immortal to lose his senses over a girl like this ! Especially not after meeting the likes of Felicia Martins who tried to take his head twice ! Sherilynn was in cahoots with projecting empath John Garrick and did his bidding, both Immortals forming a lethal tag-team against those of their kind. They hoped to clear the way in Seattle with Ryan's death. But Richie wised up and took the girl's head before John got his. The empath did his best to drive Ryan crazy with disturbing visions, with nightmarish fantasies projected into his mind but Ryan has seen it all. John Garrick is no more. When he came after Ryan, he expected an easy kill but it was the red-head teen who put the Englishman to his final resting place.

She was called the bear woman by her men, because of her switching moods and the way she ferociously defended her cubs, a tribe offoster children born in the 14th century who followed her everywhere and whom she trained as spies, saboteurs and assassins infiltrating ennemies lines in warfare. She was even thought to have been a past identity of legendary Kellistra because of her former alias of Kallistrate
and the fact Kellistra once called herself Ursual Katz, seemingly a dead giveaway. However, Kallisto was found to have been born in the Nicopolis Theme of the 12th century and was identified as a past disciple of Seraphina of Rome. So much for the Kellistra/Kallisto theory.
Kallisto disappeared during the Byzantine civil war of 1357 with her children and was never heard from again.
What could turn an heroine and mother into such a ruthless killer ? If she lost her children/tribe to the Game it may have broken her heart to the extant she lost touch with her humanity. Since she re-appeared in 2014 she has been playing theGame withabandon, seemingly not feeling one thing. Even Safiya Khan has a life of her own. Kallisto... just plays the Game. So sad/

Katherine arrived to late to save the life of her son Adam, murdered in cold blood by Kallisto of Nicopolis, the young pre-Immortal didn't reach his Immortality and would never achieve his full potential. Not that he would have enjoyed it much. How could Kallisto murder Adam is beyond us, the former mother hen is gone forever, replaced by just another headhunter. Katherine had only two days to bury her son, she felt devastated and was lucky to have Deoneces and Kyra of Sparta by her side at the funeral. Seraphina was here too, as well as Xanthia from London. After the burial it was time for revenge but Katherine was in no shape to fight and Deoneces knew it. However, Kate took the time to sharpen her sword. Grief would come later. Now was the time of the Gathering and doomed or not, she would avenge her son.
Her battle against Kallisto of Nicopolis was a furious one and as Deoneces predicted, Kallisto prevailed. Buit not for long.
Deoneces came after the warrior-woman like a fury and took her out of the Game; he grienved for his woman, for her son but also for hte old friend who had turned into an ennemy whose soul had been lost to the Game long ago. Watchers predicted that what could befall a colossus like Deoneces would be the deaths of Kyra, Seraphina and Katherine, his three sirens. Katherine is no more. Can Seraphina and Kyra survive and make sure Deoneces does ?

Was it Carter Wallan joke that rubbed Lootje De Groot the wrong way ? Carter's puns are often bad and can be misunderstood. He should have known the reputation of Lootje, a woman with a dark, twisted sense of humor who doesn't like being mocked and felt the youngish Immortal was humoring her. The friendly overture was addressed to the wrong kind of lady and soon the pleasant evening ended with a fatal confrontation between the two Immortals. Once united in a common goal against the pawns of Mement-Ra durign the Immortals War, now led like lemmings by the madness of the Gathering, the fight ended with Lootje victorious. Carter died on his knees, a demonstration that the woman is indeed the deadliest of the species.

Hazeem Al Bachrim had barely the time to mourn before he tracked Lootje De Groot to her lair where he was met by Lootje's companion, Swenja Baatz. Hazeem intended to avenge his companion but his resolve was lacking. Carter was dead, what was there for him to fight ? Before Swenja's sword, the Ashanti remembered the failure from the tribal ritual which ended his mortality and he finally understood the folly of spending centuries playing the Game endlessly. As his head rolled on the ground, he may have contended himslef with his only prize : to be reunited with Carter forever in the afterlife.

Messalina of Rome didn't last long against Deoneces of Sparta after she killed the second of his "sirens". Seraphina was expected to be among the contestants of the Final Gathering, however, while a superb fighter, Messalina bested her. She must have trained harder than Seraphina did because she displayed superb fighting kills we didn't expect from her. After all, Messalina was never truly a player of the Game. How she did fight sometimes, if only to savor the odd Quickening or to rod herself from an an enneny but this was a surprise.
She didn't enjoy her Quickening for long, however. Deoneces challenged her but his grief nearly cost him his head; His concentration looked gone. Kyra was ready to interfere, if only to shut the Roman bitch's viperine mouth but Deoneces denied his fellow Spartan and finally won.

Deoneces and Kyra buried Seraphina, but they will need each other if theri want to be the survivors of hte Gathering.

I approve of the changes you've made to the Black Friar breakout storyline, Gardner. The basics are the same with Eadwulf still taking out Alfgar from a distance. And Meghan still met her end anyway at the hands of another escapee a few years later.

And the Gathering having been started by the Immortals War is ironic considering that was Memnet-Ra's plan all along. He may have perished but it seems his legacy lives on....

Echijole Jimah lived by the sword, a weapon to which she had a mystical connection, feeling her sword was alive and telling her which battle to choose and which to walk away from. As is common in Africa, animism is a prevalent belief in which people do believe inanimate objects have a soul. We often wondered wether Kastagir’s sword mourned its master after the Kurgan killed him. There are tales of ancient weapons which received the souls of their departed masters and when picked by a new master, somehow the Immortal was connected to the Immortals who once possessed those swords. When the Final Gathering finally comes, all of those beautiful swords will be orphaned and will mourn.

The SIS warned Meghan MacKay against Robert Henderson, urging her to stay clear of him : this was a Dark Quickening alert. But Meghan listed to her own heart, not to her head and looked for her past teacher. She didn't need to look for him, he alrerady was hunting her.
When they faced each other, Meghan tried to takl him out of his madness, unfortunately she was adressing the MacTaggert bits that festered in Hendrson's psyche. You do not reason a raving psychopaht like Kevin MacTaggert.
And when Henderson drew his sword, Bang ! He was shot from range by Raymond d'Amboise, the SIS' own master sniper who fled in a hurry before he could be impancted by Henderson’s dissolving energies.

Naturally the deaths of Immortals killed by the Black Friar escapees as well as the deaths of the escapees themselves happen in 2013. As a matter of fact, the Immortal War was the massive eartthquake which triggered the tsunami of the Gathering the Immortals are currently living through.

The legend of the Seven Knights of Christendom truly commences by 650 , when shadowy immortal Metopholus, since then cross-identified as Methos, gathered six immortal heroes from all parts of Western Europe as help to hunt the legendary Xanthia of Melitus (aka Rebecca of Mycenae) at this time a thrall of the dreaded Dark Quickening. Xanthia received it from an old and evil immortal in India and for one century, roared and ramapaged across two continents, with Methos hot on her trails, trying to prevent her from causing more deaths. She put thousands of mortals to the sword, killed at least six immortals we know of and damaged her reputation to the extant her former disciples went in hiding, dreading the days she would come after them.
Finally, Xanthia was captured by the Knights of Christendom, who combined their strenghts against the forces of darkness. They fought many evil immortals, but it was the first time they had to face one of the most benevolents of their kind, the legendary Rebecca,keeper of the Stone of Methuselah and former lover of King Agamemnon. It is Methos who guided his allies to a holy spring where Xanthia was forced to confront her inner demons, her good side eventually prevailing. The six holy knights were the one she had to thank and truly, this was their most acomplished feat : bringing Xanthia back from the darkness ot the light.
The seventh Knight, known as Saitn Denis couldn't be present at that time since he had met his Final Deaht by the sword of General Darius in Paris, circa 451. However, for centuries he stodd as one of Europe's greatest forces of good on hte Immortal scene.

Stanislav Karloff hides behind many walls as many Immortals are prone to do, usually trying to avoid the Game, a tragic opast, former lovers or old ennemies. The bespectacled, stern headmaster is rumored to be an ogre among the studenrt body here at the school; little do the students know this is a 1200-years old Immortal with his own fear of death, of the Final Gathering and that his own end may come in a time when his students turn into middle-aged men and women. He envies their mortality and the mark they can live on the world because though he has helped build the Ottoman Empire in his youth, he has seen the Ottomans Empire crumble like dust and he remembers the old saying “I will show you fear in a handful of dust”.
The ogre of Snow Valley is an empty shell, his dreams of conquest vanished in a puff of smoke, waiting for a player of the Game to come after him and finally deliver him from his torments.

Stanislav Karloff was in Staten Island waiting for the ferry to take him to Manhattan when he sensed the presence of one of his kind, who turned out to be teenaged Vitalya Lobanova, an woman hiding in the frame of a young girl, specialized in Immortals preying on women and children. She debunked countless sex-rings in the past seventy years and now that the Gathering is on she well intends to survive.

She also had a score to settle with Karloff who, in 1954, slaughtered scores of innocent Bulgarian civilians while serving the Communist regimen. Vitalya's foster family was among hte dead and she swore to make Karloff pay someday. The day came, she went like a fury against the old man : Imagine a diminutive blode girl going like a cyclone against the weathered old man. It was impossible but Vitalya didn't care if this was possible or not and she won in the end.

The battle between Tsaganis the blind Immortal and Lord Byron ended with the Immortal poet's death. Byron spent his Immortality either drunk r stoned on drugs and this kind of abuse took a toll on his sanity as well as his ability to outmaneuver Immortals in the Game. It is a wonder he ived this long.

The final battle of slaver Morgan Walker against Methos, aka Adam Pierson, allowed to cross-identify the elusive immortal as Doctor Benjamin Adams of New Orleans, an immortal who travelled from North America to Western Europe - France and Switzerland - where he took the name of Doctor Polidori.

In Switzerland, Adams befriended a trio of English poets, Lord Gordon Byron, Percy Bysse Shelley and his wife Mary Shelley who became the author of the infamous novel 'Frankenstein, the Modern Prometheus', thus eclipsing her husband's poetry with her prose. The inspiration for the novel came from two incidents in her life : the first being the death of her infant daughter, the second the death of her friend Byron accidentally hit by lightnings during a freak storm during the quatuor's stay in Geneva where Mary wrote her novel.

Percy, Mary and 'Polidori' brought their friend's body in their home but were warned by Polidorito not call a doctor; 'our friend shall awake soon', he said. Disbeliving, the Shelleys were amazed to see Byron's body move convulsively with him screaming in pain as he awoke from his First Death. The fascinated friends listened in awe to Polidori's tales of immortals walking the eartth for centuries, fighting until only one remains, coming back from the dead time and time again. Polidori confessed her was Benjamin Adams from New Orleans and that he originally fled one of his kind, he also confessed he was thousands of years old and that indeed, the Wandering Jew and the fabled Saint-Germain existed as immortals and that many of folk tales and stories of dead people reviving were true.

Mary became so inspired by Byron's resurrection that she found in her the story of Frankenstein : a man seeking the secrets of life, who would bring immortality to the living,; a creature born from lightnings and ceaselessly tormented by his unique condition. Polidori / Adams made her swear she would disguise herstory as a work of fiction, which she did.

But we know the truth : the Modern Promotheus is Lord Byron; and iindeed he became so during the Grek War of Independance when he swore he would bring freedom to the peopleof the Balkans and participated in the Greek's rebellion against the Ottoman Empire. It is likely Polidori / Methos may have introduced Byron to Deoneces and Kyra of Sparta who accepted any help they could get, and graciously invited the poet in their covenant.

June 1825 saw the siege of Messolonghi with Deoneces, Kyra and Byron defending the city against the Ottomans; Byron disappeared during those terrible days, but is believed to be still living somewhere, bringing the fire of knowledge to mortals as he always yearned to do.

Few immortals were like Tsaganis, surviving though the centuries, playing the Game, moving silently though the centuries. An handicap is already a difficult thing to live with for a mortal : blindness, deafness, missing a limb are things that tamper with your life, that mess with you and can break you easily if you aren't a strong person. And it is all the more difficult - if not impossible - to live with when you are an immortal with strangers coming after your head. There are not a lot of them. Kenny, the Von Arlon children, Maria Vaccaro, Joe Muhamad. A few others whose immortality was triggered past their prime. Tsaganis trained with oriental teachers and found the ability to deflect physical attacks using the manner his Quickening interacts with other immortals' Qs. Easy to doge a sword, to blind an opponent with pepper spray and to quickly take a head with his sword hidden in his cane. Clean, quick and swift Quani Colotl didn't deserve Niko Tsaganis : he had his men bring him to him, bound and gagged and sacrificed him in his place of worship to Quetzalcoatl, Feathered-Snake God.

In 1975, Duncan MacLeod was in Vietnam during the fall of Saigon after his nasty business with Kage and the Khmer Rouges and he met up with Nguyen Tran who was an opium and women trafficker during the Vietnam war. MacLeod tried to protect a teenaged girl who fell in the clutches of Tran but MacLeod lost him during the chaos of Saigon’s fall. He left for the United States with his Cambodian student Maya Sokhit and the Vietnamese girl to whom he paid a full scholarship in New York state and was reunited with Tran who emmigrated to the USA in 1985 as so many Southeast Asian Immortals are prone to do.
That time, Nguyen didn’t have the chaos of a city in ruins to help him escape from the blade of MacLeod

Greetings, Gardner.

It's been a long time since I've visited this site. Unfortunately, my mother passed away in January after a long and difficult illness. I had to care for her and my dad full time for months so this site became the last thing on my mind. Although still feeling my mum's loss, I've started getting back into a routine again as i know it's what she would have wanted. So i'm back tentatively at the moment and look forward to your postings again, my friend.

Thanks, Gardner. Glad you approved of the first instalment. There are many more secrets to be revealed, including Immortal enclaves around the world, Immortals ruling mighty city states, and the tragic story that led to the discovery of Quickenings, the origins of the Game (more accident than a design), and why post-Flood Immortals know nothing about their pre-Flood progenitors.
I've spent a lot of time while caring for my parents researching in my downtime all the myths and beliefs relating to the supposed pre-Flood world, the civilisations that were supposed to have existed and found a wealth of material for a world where Immortals once co-existed and lived openly side-by-side with mortals. Many cultural myths imply that the life-spans of humans before the Flood were extremely long, in the thousands, ripe material for someone constructing an AU world filled with Immortals! Lol

Oh and thanks for the Boklov chronicle. I was kinda hoping you couldn't resist tackling that one...! Lol

Re: Methos. Is it possible he got his hands on a pre-Flood sword? The art of making them was lost in the Cataclysm, but that doesn't mean some of them couldn't have survived the tsunami to be discovered later. Would the irony have been lost in Methos wielding a weapon once carried by his Immortal progenitors.

Good story there, Apollo! An Immortal from Atlantis;;; that's very good.That means Immortals were already in existence by the time of the Great Flood .
I wonder if Joe Dawson discloed his finds to the Watcher Tribune, now ran by Ravenwood and what was the reaction of Deoneces and Kyra when learning of the Sacred Order and the Immortal from Atlantis.

I did some research on Bronze Age swords, there existed copper-made daggers around 2800 BC, though I have a hard time imagining Methos, Tizkar of Sumer and Gilgamesh taking heads with this kind of weapons. Around 1700 BC swords started being manufactured, so who knows. Maybe I didn't need to write in those updates about the Bronze Age Immortals I posted.

Prometheaus 's death date is changed from 1600 BC to 1700 BC for conveneince sake as well as Carnaban killed by Tizkar around 1650 BC according to the chronicle of his teacher, Menahem, killed in 1600 BC.

According to Wikipedia, Bronze Age swords appeared from around the 17th century BC, in the Black Sea region and the Aegean, as a further development of the dagger. They were replaced by iron swords during the early part of the 1st millennium BC.Methos told MacLeod that he remembers taking his first head 5000 years ago, around 3.000 BC. How did he do that, I wonder, with the first swords being manufactured around 1700 BC... Did he used a stone axe ? Or were swords in existence around 5.000 BC and the craft for building them got lost between that time and the 16th century BC ? Unless he told yet another half-truth to the Highlander...
A possibility he that he used a copper-made dagger around 2800 BC, it's not huge but it could do the work.
