Oooh. The Apostate background is interesting!

Gardner, you said Jin Ke's wife had children. Were they biologically his? How did she survive, if so?

Well done, my friend! Great work with the Sacred Order Masters, just as i was thinking they were. And i really love the pictures you chose; a great line-up there, looking as i pictured them in my head.
Also, really enjoyed your hint as to the past actions of The Apostate protecting the Order from those trying to uncover its secrets.

    Speaking of him...

    The Apostate

What can be said about this Immortal? Once an avid player of the Game, who skirted the grey areas of the Immortal community, his many identities hinting at his talent for the hunt and his skill with the sword. The former Kotys the Hunter at some point in the past, most likely in the pre-Christ era, crossed paths with Hapuseneb, the Immortal who would go on to found the world's most secretive cadre of Immortals to ever exist, an Order with access to the most hidden secrets of the mortal and Immortal world. What was it that drove the friendship between the bookish, scholarly Hapuseneb, who discarded his sword centuries ago, and the fierce warrior and player of the Game, Kotys? The same question must be asked of his Immortal disciples, an eclectic mix if ever there was one. But whatever it is, Kotys dropped out of sight in the 1st Century AD and was never heard from again until we discovered the existence of the Order and Kotys at its heart, now calling himself The Apostate and fiercely loyal to the Immortals within its ranks. A fierce and skilled warrior who kills without mercy in its name, but takes no joy in the killing. It is just a means to an end. Anybody who threatens its existence is hunted down and eliminated. How many Immortals has he killed in its name? The next few years should reveal some interesting secrets. An Immortal who kills not for the Game but for friendship. For family. And that is the most dangerous and formidable Immortal of all.

Special Projects, Chronicle of the Order of the Sacred Knowledge

    Cheers
    Apollo1

THE TALE OF THE EIGHT DEVILS

In ancient China there existed Eight Devils. Eight Immortals bearing the names of the ghosts and demons of Chinese folklore living as assassins, hiring themselves to whom could pay best. And in their spare time they murdered, vandalized, burnt their way across mainland China, spreading tales of terror which survive as folktales to present times.

Meng Po, an unobtrusive old lady hiding a rotten soul beneath the manner of a sweet grandmother. Master hebalist who hired herself as cook in households and poisoned entire families. She was the Eight Devils ringleader and gathered them all under her firm rule.
Ba Jiaogui, malevolent ghost who staged murders as rabid dogs attacks, suicides, spontaneous combustions, wreaking havoc everywhere she went. Leged has it that she was molested by a cousin and killed herself in dishonor, her ghost doomed to walk the Earth forever.
Bai Gujing, a child Immortal, the innocent face of a little girl luring lone travellers to certain doom, appearing as a living squeletton (likely dressed in black with painted bones all over). She was as rabid as a dog, as ferocious as a gutter rat and as mean spirited and wicked as a demon from the deepest pits of Hell.
Daji the Fox-lady, the succubus who seduced any men and could turn a monk into a rabid sex-crazed lunatic. Hundreds of men fell to her seductive charms and were felled by her poisoned cosmetics; Immortal men shared the same kind of fate, falling asleep beside her, never to wake up.
E Gui, the hungry ghost, an obese and grotesque man known for his greed and gluttonnery who was the best wrestler of China, having mastered his sport for hundreds of years. Invicible, merciless, fearsome and known as an impotent man who sought favors from Daji but never obtained them because he truly disgusted her.
Jiangshi the vampire, the other child Immortal of the group, working in pair with Bai Gujing, two heartless children luring men and women with sad eyes and pleas for help. Good at running when they met Immortals who saw beyond their looks.
Pipa Jing, a pipe-smoking woman who put poisoned tobacco in her pipe; her quarries were dead before they even were aware they had been poisoned. Meng Po is the Immortal who recruited her and taught her to poisoned tobacco as means to commit murders.
Nü Gui, the hermaphrodite, once a carnivale freak who decided he should have his fun too and started murdering people who wanted to do more than pick a look at him (or her). If people want a piece of him, he once stated, they'd better be prepared to pay for the privilege. Murdered his quarries in creative, gruesome ways.

Who else than the Eight Immortals of Chinese folklore could put an end to their rampage ? The Eight Immortals (all benevolent, with the exeption of the Immortal Maiden) had been antagonists of the Devils for centuries and when the Devils started impersonating them, damaging their reputation on the Immortal scenery, the group led by Houng-ho decided to take action and gathered at the court of Emperro Ming in 1368, posing as his hireligns and bodyguard, waiting for the Eight Devils who they heard plotted against the Emperor's life. They didn't wait for long and soon a battle royale occured between the Eight Immortals and the Eight Devils. The Immortals were experienced in sword-fighting, kung-fu, acrobatics while the Eight Devils cheated in the Game and weren't as competent fighters as their ennemies.
In the end, the Eight Devils were dead and when they were buried in a mass grave, legend as it that the land around the grave grew sterile and no men, no animal dared walk it.

According to numerous historians, as well as Roman notables such as Cicero, the spark which ignited the Republican Revolution of Rome in 509 BC was the indignation incited when Sextus Tarquin, the son of the reigning Etruscan monarch Tarquinius Superbus, raped the virtuous Lucretia, who Romans idolized as the perfect wife and ideal woman. Two thousand years after she was raped by by Sextus Tarquin and comitted suicide, Lucretia of Rome at last found a modicum of hapiness in her life, a glimmer of hope for her future. Today, she married Baron Luciano Garibaldi, one of the richest, most generous men in Italy who certainly will give a world of love to Lucretia. Lucretia reciprocates by being a faithful spouse to Luciano and a wonderful mother to the Baron's children. During two thousand years, Lucretia lived only by her teacher's motto ("all men are predators to women") and by the shame of her rape, spending her immortality on holy grounds, either as churches'handmaiden or convent nun.

    Update

The Immortal women Nezetta of San Marino and Guerina of Benevento have been conclusively cross-identified as past identities of immortal Lucretia Garibladi (B: 529 BC). In 1503 Lucretia was living as a catholic nun in the convent of San Marino during the city’s occupation by Cesare Borgia where she evaded the attention of Pascal Chaussende, always on the lookout for an Immortal woman to use as pawn in the Game, in 1797 she lived as a Jewish woman married to a rabbi of the Venetian Jewish ghetto and went missing when the armies of Napoleon Bonaparte occupied the city, belived killed by French soldier De Margelasse.
Hot-blooded Lucretia once had a tumultuous afffair with Hugh Fitzcairn in 1503 in Milan and with Sunda Kastagir twenty years later in Venice when the Ethiopian was known as "the Moor of Venice".

Recently I was asked by the Watcher community in the department of research to be less sarcastic and more humble in my reports. Hence this : I humbly think of Xmucane each time I savor a cup of hot cocoa because this is the woman to whom we owe this modest pleasure since she started cultivating cocal in the 19th century before common era, a woman of major importance in the history of mankind who dwarfs modern preparations of cocoa because of the love and passion she put in it. Where some of you guy call me 'granddad' behind my back, I can tell you this was a 'granma' who could single-handedly beat every Immortal coming after her and have time for a cup of hot chocolate while she was processing the Quickening she took. And believe me, there is more than one Immortal who regretted not havign accepted a cup of her brew instead of foolishly challenging her.

Took the head of a librarian during civil war,
suffered a Light Quickening, encounter with
Hapuseneb who recruited him in the Sacred Order

It speaks volumes of Hapuseneb, an Immortal able to recruit a broken warrior like Belshazzar so destroyed by an aleged Light Quickening that he couldn't hold his own anymore, able to convince him to dedicate his life to preserving ancient knowledge and to forever renounce the arts of war, to forever forsake the Game. Belshazzar was a warlord and plunderer for three hundred of years and was a terror walking on two legs who had but contempt for books until he killed he wise and ancient librarian whose power was so great that it took a definite hold on Belshazzar's psyche.
He has been a changed man for 2.600 years and has dedicated his life to being mankind's Watcher, living in shadows in the company of the Immortals who shaped the Order of the Sacred Knowledge.
He is the Persian Darius, doomed to never be known among Immortals as the Gothic Darius, living in anonimity and having accepted it as an act of love to his teacher and to the order he founded.

Known past associates : Tak-Ne of Alexandria
First recorded sighting : 1750 BC Northern Nile,
    Egypt Disciple of Hapuseneb

During the razing of Carthage by the Romans, it is now our firm belief that Sacred Order founder and Grand Master of Books, Hapuseneb and his student and protector Keresher (who would become Master of the Black Books) preserved hundreds of valuable tablets pre-dating early Egyptian civilisation during the 17-day fire of 146 BC.
Hapuseneb and Keresher were also present in China in 213 BC during the book burning ordered by the emperor Tsun Shi Hwang-ti. It was during this period that Master of the Books of the East, Moy Chi-ju, already a long-lived Immortal, was mentored by Hapuseneb.
During the destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria during the Roman civil war in 48 BC, we can confirm that Keresher and soon-to-be Master of the Books of Anatolia Balshazzar of Kish managed to rescue hundreds of precious scrolls and tablets with no small help of Sunda Kastagir, at this time lording over the Great Librart.
In 133 BC the Library of Pergamon was destroyed when the kingdom fell to the Romans. But we now know that Hapuseneb and Keresher were able to escape with hundreds of precious scrolls days before the legions fell on the city.

First recorded sighting : 978 BC. Yangtze River,
China. Midwife and healer, encounter with Xanthia
of Melitus, found her to be an herbal genius

Of course the tall tale of a pre-immortal woman dying in childbirth is apocryphal but this story is the one of Ang Chwun-hwa who was the concubine of Emperor Zhou in 1030 BC and had promised him an heir. She faked her pregnancy and presented him with a foundling she and I (as her physician) passed as legitimate heir. Ang had been poisoned by a jealous rival and was dying from slow poisoning, so we cooked a tale in which she died after giving birth to her child and once she was “buried” (an empty coffin) we both exited China for India where we lived for a few years. She decided she xould help women go through labor so she would never see the horror of bothced childbirths and dedicated her immortality preparign herbal remedies for pregnant women, wether to ease the pains of pregnancy and childbirth or to terminate one. Ang’s teachings have reached medieval times when herbalist Grace Chandel discovered her teachings in a monastery of eastern China; the manuscript was hidden in an ancient monastery.
In 106 BC she became acqauinted to Immortal Jin Ke who was ready to take her head, but laid his sword down when this amazing woman helped Jin’s mortal wife through labor and saved the woman’s life. Jin Ke was so elated with the birth of his two sons that he spared Ang’s life.

Good work. An Immortal even older than Oromedon of Urkesh, whoa.
Have you done stats for the members of the Sacred Order yet ? According to the names you gave me, I have a pretty good idea of where and when they were active in pre-Christ days. (WINK!)

Thanks for the little tweaks to the Siege of Constantinople/Irene of Antioch report. Much better!
And great work on the reworked Chronicles, nice to see Carolyn Mortimer getting some attention! Lol

Meanwhile some updates on a Chronicle and a new ancient Immortal, thanks to the Special Projects team:

The latest field research from our Sacred Order team has allowed us to add information we didn't previously have to an old chronicle and has given us insight on a previously unidentified Immortal in our records whom we can now positively give a name and background to. All the information was acquired from our imbedded agent in the Order's mortal ranks who has access to their extensive archive of personal journals and observations from dozens of Immortals the Order came into contact with over the centuries. See the addendum to today's report.

    Addendum:

    Inyotef

    Background
    Original cultural affiliation: Egyptian
Born: 2947 BC, First Dynasty Egypt
First death: 2910 BC; At the end of the reign
of Qa' a, last king of the First Dynasty, most
likely during the dynastic war that followed
First teacher: Akunosh, at this time High Priest
    of Ptah for Qa' a.

    Akunosh

    Known aliases: Unknown
    Notable characteristics: Unrecorded
    Weapon: Unrecorded

    Status
Most recent base of operations: Thebes,
    Nineteenth Dynasty Egypt
Occupation: Captain of the Guard for Ramesses I
    Prior occupations: Unrecorded
    Roster of Immortals Status: Deceased
    Date: 1292 BC
    Place: Thebes
    Victor: Memnet-Ra
Watcher: Special Projects, Order of the Sacred Knowledge

    Background
    Original cultural affiliation: Amratian
    Born: c 4100 BC, El-Amra, Amratian culture,
    Upper Egypt
    First death: Unrecorded
    First teacher: Unrecorded
    Known associates: Unrecorded
    Known past associates: Inyotef

First recorded sighting: 1292 BC. Thebes.
In battle with Memnet-Ra, who was at this time High
Priest of Seth for Ramesses I

According to the records of the Sacred Order, Akunosh is the earliest Egyptian Immortal in the Chronicles, although his birth pre-dates the ancient Egyptian kingdom itself. Not much else is known about this ancient Immortal, other than his approximate date of birth, that he was the teacher of Inyotef, and that he was the previously unidentified Egyptian Immortal slain by Memnet-Ra in 1292 BC. That he was Inyotef's teacher was probably no coincidence.

    Addendum:

Following further research by Special Projects, we can now affirm that Pathfinder Parthenia of Udyana and her Sentinel protector Irene of Antioch were present at the Siege of Constantinople in 717-718 as Parthenia rescued hundreds of ancient scrolls before the Byzantine Emperor Leo III the Isaurian had 300,000 books burned. She encountered Lalica in 718, at the Battle of Constantinople during Arab invasion of Byzantine Empire, fresh from having killed Immmortal Antarah ibn Shaddah. Both women were too busy to challenge each other.

And now for somethign different... the following Immortals were deleted from my files, I recreated them from scratch.

    Jean-Jacques Beauvallet

Known aliases : Louis Valet, Ferdinand Verdier
    Notable characteristics : None
    Weapon : Charles III rapier

    Status
Most recent base of operations : Rheims, France
Occupation : Comedian, part of Jean-François
    Reignard acting company, occasional headhunter
    Prior occupations : Comedian, playwright
Roster of Immortals Status : Deceased
    Date : 19 December 1696
    Place : Versailles, France
Victor : Carolyn Mortimer, comedian in the
    Trebuchet Acting Company
Watcher : Research, the Chronicle of Carolyn
    Mortimer

    Background
    Original cultural affiliation : French
    Born : 1551; Bordeaux, France
First death : 1571; Failed playwright, commited
suicide upon poor ratings of last play
    First teacher : Marcus Korolus
Known past associates : Marcus Korolus
First recorded sighting : 1573. Paris, France
Found and mentored by Marcus Kortlous

Jean-Jacques Beauvallet became Carolyn Mortimer’s first known kill at a time when a woman carrying a sword was simply unthinkable. Carolyn carried her broadsword with a short blade hidden in her robes and passed it as a prop when she was an actress in Paris’ successful Trebuchet Acting Company. Beauvallet was a failed comedian but a successful player of the Game with six known kills across Western and Southern Europe in the last one hundred years and wasn’t above killing a woman. Carolyn would have been his latest quarry but Sean Burns taught his protégé to be strong and resilient and to be prepared for the worst immortality had to offer. Her friend Rebecca of Mycenae taught her to stand her ground and to face what was to come. Beauvallet was aggressive and strong, while petite Carolyn was quikc and smart. In the end she prevailed, the Quickening setting fire to Reignard’s theater and ruining the premiere of the thespian’s lastest play, Orpheo.

    Candace Lea

Known aliases : Emily Mortimer, Cynthia Black
    Notable characteristics : Homicidal psychopath
    Weapon : Not carrying one
Recorded kills : None, not a player of the Game

    of death murdering mental patients

    Mortimer

    Background
    Original cultural affiliation : British
Born : 17th century, Suffolk, England
First death : Attacked by bandits on the road to
London; actually possibly hung for a string of
    murders in Suffolk
    First teacher : Callestina
    Known past associates : Callestina
First recorded sighting : 1728. Manchester,
England. Encounter with Carolyn Mortimer who
offered her a position as nurse at Brennan’s Hospital

Doctor Sean Burns opened his own mental ward in London, not only to house the sick of the mind but also to shelter the occasional insane Immortal who needed a place to hide and stay anonymous. He offered a position as senior nurse to Lady Carolyn who agreed and kept her position with a firm hand and made one mistake : hirign an Immortal nurse named Candace Lea who she wasn’t are was a serial murderer who picked on any patients who had the misfortune of falling between her hands. Carolyn didn’t know that she just saw a kindred spirit in Candace and strick a friendship with her. In the following year, patiens started dying in dubious circumstances wherever Candace was on duty. Suspecting foul play, Lady Carolyn wised up and confronted her friend who admitted to the killings. To her, killing the insane was cleaning up mankind’s household from its vermin and she was doing it for the commong good. Afer all, Immortals didn little else when they took out “evil” Immortals out of the Game. This kind of self-justification didn’t agree with Lady Carolyn who proved how unladylike she could be in the Game when she drew her sword and dispatched Candace Lea, takign responsablmity for the deaths she caused when she hired a woman she should have distrusted in the beginning.

    rumors of police abducting children
    First teacher : Raymond Callemin
Known past associates : Raymond Callemin
First recorded sighting : 1750. Paris, France
Found and mentored by Raymond Callemin

In 1805 Lady Carolyn and her husband barely escaped the guillotine thanks to Darius and Seans Burns who got them out of the prison where they awaited certain death on order from Napoleon’s secret services. They lived in London, feeling safe; unfortunately, the world has a manner of showing you safety is an illusion, especially if you are an Immortal. Gonzague Campiche was an Immortal on the payroll of Napoleon’s secret services whose job was to track down and kill French aristocrat suspected of plotting against the Emperor4s life. To him it was obvious John and Carolyn Mortimer were lethal ennemies of the Empire and it was time to sanction those ennemies. He didn’t suspect Carolyn was an Immortal like himself but when he murdered John in cold blood after torturing him for information on suspects, he lured the wrath of a discipel of Sean Burns, Rebecca of Mycenae and Hugh Fitzcairn, three amiable Immortals who could prove to be tigers on the immortal scene.
Lady Carolyn was the one to hunted Gonzague down and she took her time, wanting the hunter to feel like a prey for once in his wretched life. She avenged the death of her husband Immortal-style and took the time to mourn before leaving London for the Americas, joining the French communities which settled there in the United States and in Latin American countries.

    Known associates : Carolyn Mortimer
Known past associates : Cristobal Rojas
First recorded sighting : 1746. Caracas,
Venezuela. Found and mentored by Padre Rojas

Where most of 19th century French Immigrants settled in Costa Rica, Argentina and Chile, Carolyn Mortimer whose to avoid the company of her compantriots and settled in Venezuela, reinventing herself as a classica lmusic teacher at Chacao’s school of music where she diverted herself with the company of her students, trying to put away the emory of her husband John, murdered by Immortal Gonzague Campiche. Three years of living for young mortals helped her in her grief but time does heal wounds. She felt happy and free. Then she met another one of her kind, a dahsing rogue who courted her for three months, presenting her with lavish gifts, cosntantly interfering with her life in Chacao. Lady Carolyn wasn’t interesting in another romance but still.. she felt tempted and Rebecca of Mycenae taught her to use any opportunity to forget the heavy burder of Immortality.
Carolyn felt lonely and Beturian Allende was charming, if only a bit to obsessive. When one of her male student who had a crush on her was found beaten within an inch of his life and death threats were sent to another male teacher of the Chacao school Carolyn felt suspicious. It couldn’t be her charming scoundrel, could it ? Investigating the matter, she read the hate letters Arturo Nogueira received and spoke with young Chicao Parrado when he awoke from coma. Indeed, foul play came from her beau and she was forced to confront him. She was never the weak-spirited Immoral layd Beturian hoped her to be and showed the tigress beneeath her delicate features.
Carolyn odered Beturian out of Chacao, but Beturian wasn’t a man to take orders from a woman, and when Betirian tried to force himself on Carolyn, not even a favor from God could have helped the Spaniard agaisnt the strong blade of Sean Burns’ apt pupil.

    enamoured with her
    First teacher : Duncan MacLeod
Known past associates : Duncan MacLeod
First recorded sighting : 1754. Moscow, Tsardom
of Russia; Found and mentored by Duncan MacLeod

After two decades of adventuring in the Americas, including a hopeless romance with a fellow Immortal, Lady Carolyn came back to her toots in Paris, then travelled to Scandinavia for a dozen of years before settign foor in Moscow, Tsardom of Russia, where she became an admirer of ballet at the Theater of the Bolschoi. There she met a teenaged Immortal girl, a mere slip of an Immortal who practiced ballet and put a sum of work and passion in her fraft that fired up the jealousy of more than one dancer in the company. This was a young woman who san”t afraid of making ennemies and playing the Game.. In her own perverse, seductive way, luring men to her bed before takign their heads after a night of debauchery. How could they suscpted the killer behind those innocent eyes ? Lady Carolyn was an apt psychologist in a time when no one knew the word and she saw the predator behind those eyes.
Irina wasn’t above seducing Immortal women... at least those inclined to bi-sexuality and Lady Carolyn had been initiated by Rebecca and Amanda to sapphic games, which she enjoyed a lot. The Game now, that was something else. She didn’t like mixing both and when Irina finally showed her true face, Carolyn was ready. Because she had been hunting Irina all along on behalf of Duncan MacLeod who couldn’t bring himself to kill a woman he once mentored and loved. Lady Carolyn was born way past the age of chivalry.

Thanks for posting the West African Immortals, my friend. Once again, much appreciated,

Great work fleshing out the chronicle of Mei-li Choe before she became a Sentinel, i really loved her story. And i adored your account of two kills by Irene Antioch while serving as a Sentinel in the Order.

Meanwhile, here's a little taster for the Sacred Order:

Following further research by Special Projects, we can now affirm that Pathfinder Parthenia of Udyana and her Sentinel protector Irene of Antioch were present at the Siege of Constantinople in 717-718 as Parthenia rescued hundreds of ancient scrolls before the Byzantine Emperor Leo III the Isaurian had 300,000 books burned.

Watcher Research, Order of the Sacred Knowledge

During the razing of Carthage by the Romans, it is now our firm belief that Sacred Order founder and Grand Master of Books, Hapuseneb and his student and protector Keresher (who would become Master of the Black Books) preserved hundreds of valuable tablets pre-dating early Egyptian civilisation during the 17-day fire of 146 BC.

Hapuseneb and Keresher were also present in China in 213 BC during the book burning ordered by the emperor Tsun Shi Hwang-ti. It was during this period that Master of the Books of the East, Moy Chi-ju was mentored by Hapuseneb.

During the destruction of the Great Library of Alexandria during the Roman civil war in 48 BC, we can confirm that Keresher and soon-to-be Master of the Books of Anatolia Balshazzar of Kish managed to rescue hundreds of precious scrolls and tablets.

In 133 BC the Library of Pergamon was destroyed when the kingdom fell to the Romans. But we now know that Hapuseneb and Keresher were able to escape with hundreds of precious scrolls days before the legions fell on the city.

Watcher Research has proven conclusive for several Immortals once killed by Mei-Li Choe in the first ten centuries of her life, prior to her engagement in the Order of Sacred Knowlesge as bodyguard of Pathfinder Amestrtis of Khotan. The first Chronicle of such Immortals we uncovered is of Ming Hua Kë, a rival fo Mei-Li in the affectiosn and tutelage of their common teacher, Yau Chouan Chou, also famous for having turored the legendary May-Ling Shen.
A victim of slavery and rape, Ming swore to never be enslaved again and became a vengeful sabre across Mainland China until he sought private tutoring from Yau Choua Chou. Unfortuately for him, he had a dark side in his nature : he killed the men he seduced and bedded, driven by self-hatrerd, sparing the Immortal known as Broken Blade, a diminushed Immortal man who lost his virility long ago. A psychotic by modern standards, he threatened the life of Yau Choucan Chou and was dispatched by Mei-Li Choe after an infamous duel which went down in history as “the fiery battle of the Crane and the Tiger”.

Vithanage was a disciple of Cassius Polonius and witnessed the murder of Emperor Caligula in 41 AD, only to be mentored by the Roman praetorian guard. Cassius taught the diminutive Asian to be cunning, to use any means at his disposal to survive in the Game and apparently Vithanage did very well in four hundred years, souring most of Southern Asia, playing the Game, learning new crafts and enjoying the Game immensely. Challenged Mei-li Choe to a duel and lost, later
    cross-identified as a student of Kanchiang Ch’ih

What was it about Mei-Li Choe that made her lure one headhunter after another, wherever she went ? Some Immortals truily seem doomed to play the Game time and time again, never to know peace but Mei-Li Choe acepted any challenge gracefully and fought with a passion and vigor that was paralleled by few women of her kind. She took any challenge, dutifully xserved and protected hte men she was in charge of watching over and this is why she may have been chosen as Sentinel by the Order of the Sacred Knowledge. In 717 Mei-Li Choe was known at the Tang Dynasty court as a diminutive guard/mercenary of undetermined gender who stood by the Emperor's side and never left him. Protecting his family day and night. No man was safe from her blade and there were few men or women who dared raise theri voice when adressing her. She had truly formidable weapons. When Konerak Sasorith raped one of the Emperor's concubines, Mei-Li Choe came after him like a panther trailing its prey and silently dispatched him, his custom broadsword offered as a gift to the offended Emperor whose mistress had been brutalized and dishionored.

The two Mamluke soldiers found to have been a husband and wife team for three hundred years, Maro Atef and Ehsan Ibn Fauzi, have been killed in 1387 in Sivas, a region of Anatolia taken over by the Mamluk Sultanate under the protection of Irene of Antioch, one of the Sentinels of the Sacred Order. It has been discovered that Irene was protecting Immortal Pathfinder Parthenia of Udyana who was doing research to find ancient scrolls describing the final days of the Trojan War, in which several Immortals were involved (ref. Achilles of Troy Chronicle). During Sivas takeover by the Ottomans, Ehsan and Maro threatened the life of Udyana, only to find themselves slaughtered by Irene and her superior sword skills.

Anansi was an urban legend from way back on the African roster of Immortals, a player of the Game once mentored by healer Sekou Nkruma, who killed Immortals indiscriminately, playing the Game, like a spider weaving her web, faceless and rumored to be a freak of nature born with four arms; each arms carrying a different sword, saber or cutlass, picked from a fallen opponent. For centuries he was known as a trickster, a devilish creatures seducing men out of their wits before the final kill and who could get away from any perilous situation thanks to the power of her mind. No one knew exactly what Anansi looked like : a man, a woman, a child-like creature or an elderly woman.
He was described as a roving monster, a clever creature who outlived hundreds of powerful Immortals. For eight hundred years frightening tales were told about him when the Black Continent still was largely unknown and unexplored until finally it was Sunda Kastagir who confronted him in 1390 and discovered him for what she was : a male transvestite wielding a Homemade sword he must have forged himsself and who proved to be a skilled fighter as well as a remorseless killer who still won’t hunt and kill a sister since Immortal women are so few and far between

Then she whips out her wicked little sword and whoops ! "Dad, I took my breakfast, it was yummy ! I am full". She is a little wasp. But her dad is here, he is going to protect her until the Gathering, and beyond.

As opposed to Alice Lenshina who will use her sexual power to defeat Immortal men in the Game, Orisa Kagame uses hunting skills and a keen swordarm in the Game, keeping in practice by playing regularly and training often. She keeps love and sexual matters to her mortal lovers and to the few Immortal men and women she truly loves, giving her body to those few she trusts with her intimacy. This is a shrinking violet hiding behing the wall of a tough super-woman fighting the forces of darkness in Nigeria. Few men and women in the Game have seen the real woman that she is and those who challenged her in the Game are now six feet under, their Quickenings part of Orisa.
This is a woman who will never let anyone enslave her again or threaten the lives of her clan, as she made the sad experience the day she was reborn, Immortal. When she finally took out Dimej Yar’adua, she breathed a sigh of relief, though her battle never ends. Slavers, child-traffickers, assassins, headhunters, are all part of the darkness in her heart, but she sees the light surrounded by her mortal family, her freidns and lovers, and for them, she would do everything to survive the Game and the final Gathering, so she could protect her tribe until the end of time.

Where his first teacher, Arakan, was a lion with the heart of a coward, Sghair is no coward; he plays the Game, hunts regularly those of his kind, does what has to be done. Aralkhan communicated to him his awe and fear of the Game, his belief that the strong must kill the weak so that the immortal world may be strong, so that himself may be strong.
Sghairt is no coward. He lives in fear and awe of the Game, of immortality, but that does not prevent him from challenging the best ones, the strongest of his kind, because all of them have weaknesses. From his experiences as a former lion-hunter, he knows how the sting of a wasp can weaken the defences of a mighty lion, so Sghair uses not only his strenght but also his mind, something he has been imparting on his protégé and adopted daughter Bolanile Dallo, child Immortal.

    The Chronicle of Mossane Nkobe

There is a legend in a tiny village of Senegal, about a bride who became the third wife of the village's chief, five
hundred years ago. The chief's first wife became jealous of the young girl and had her poisoned. It is also told the bride came back from the dead and scared the first wife so much that she died. This legend is based on the story of Mossane Gasira Nkobe who re-awakened, an immortal. Mossane was cast out from her village, but not put to death since her husband had really loved her.
She wandered for days until she could reach the village she originated from, unfortunately word had reach the place that her ghost was now haunting the area and she had to flee again. She was then pursued by the immortal Assane Ouadraogo who thought her an easy kill; Sunda Kastagir proved him wrong when he took his head and taught the ways of the Game to the young immortal girl.

Mossane became an angel of vengeance punishing mortals and immortals who hurt the innocent, making a name for herself though the centuries: by the end of the 17th century she had become one of the best assassins on the continent; by the end of the 19th century she had spread tales of terror in the western world about a mysterious black woman who had more lives than seven cats. And when the 20th century reached its end, she became one of the snake-named immortal members of the Headhunting Immortals Serpent Squad.

Report on the African Water Snakes

The so-called African Water-Snakes are four immortals of youthful appearance, all recruited by Mossane GasiraKnobe from Afrocentric origins, who specialize in political assassinationandare constantly on the move in the four corners of the African continents. - Abeni Kadewale : whose name means "we asked for her, and, behold, we got her" hails from the Yoruba people, a culture set in Nigeria and colonized by the British in 1901. A victim of British soldiers, Abeni took brutal revenge on her tormentors after Gasira welcomed the young woman from the land of the dead and taught her of the Game and immortality. She is the oldest of the squad, the wisest and the most violent, mirroring her teacher in that matter. She calls herself "Forest Cobra".

Then she freed the women living there and took Keturah in. Keturah doesn't care about people, other than the Water-Snakes and their mistress. When he came back from the dead, he was cast out, only to be adopted by the village's healer, Gasira herself. A sweet child at fifteen, Sefu had to grow up quickly to survive

Idriss Bahel al-Bliss got his first slave when he was 7, that was one thousand years ago. Today, he is one of Mauritania's leading abolitionists, trying to free men, women and children from indentured servitude in a country were slavery was abolished only recently, in 2007. Idriss had a change of heart when he saw a family of a teenaged mother and her seven children beign treated like cattle, and this my have been the straw that broke the camel's back as it happened to Kage in 1975 when he saw the pitiful remains of children slaughtered liek cattle by the Khmer Rouges.
Idriss freed all his slaves and has been working hard for the past seven years. His fight got him in prison, got him beaten, got hims threatened. But he won't give up. He wants to give children of Mauritius a future so he can atone for the terrible sins from his past.

    Encounter with Catherine Beckett

The expedition led by Professor Koriand in 1965 sought the lost city of Z in the Matto Grosso and disappeared, never to be seen again. This pack of immortals was made of pacific souls, led by a passion for discovery and adventures:
Teophile Koriand was mentored by Carmen Morales, a Mayan immortal who changed forever his outlook on the Precolumbian world, proving to him that Europeans and set foot on Latin America centuries before Colombus came to the Americas.
Cypriano of Ghent was challenging the rules of the mortal world before the taste of adventure took him beyond the seas, already involved in a revolution in pre-immortal life, involved in countless revolutions and having gained the ennemity of Paul Karros - Cypriano was a true beliver and idealist, while Karros is an opportunist.
Mark Falconer was as gifted in digging up old ruins as he was in decyphering old texts, wether in India or on the African continent, and in the Game smartly used a whip to disarm his opponents before killing them - although not permanently.
Harrison Goldberg is known for having suffered one of the most unique and unpleasant First Deaths in immortals history, but his teacher was a hot-blooded woman who turned his imperialist, mysogynist views of the world around, forever altering his perception of the negros race. He was never the same after Maple left him, and sought her out as much as he sought to dig up buried old cities.
Jack Hermandez, the film-maker of the group, cynic, opportunist, treasure hunter seeking to line his pockets so his film production empire could grow. He sought to become richer than any of the 1960's Hollywood films moguls.
Eleanor Holland, the only woman of the group, serving as assistant secretary to Koriand, playing the shy mouse, who astonished her male counterparts when she faced a a tribe of Amazonian headhunters by single-handedly freeing her captive collagues before dispatching the Amazonians on her own. A resourceful woman who was once mentored by a black woman, discovering of negro people could be as clever as white people, setting her on a course to promote equality of races during the civil rights movement of the 1960's in America.
Whatever happened to this group is unknown to us.

Duncan MacLeod, always the womanizer, met Ixcatzin at the Battle of Mexico City and was mesmerized by her intense beauty and charm, the same way he was mesmerized by Rebecca Horne and Amanda in 1536 after he had been subjugated by immortal witch Cassandra in his youth. He develooped an intense passion for the Miztecan beauty who didn’t quite reciprocate : she saw in Duncan MacLeod the Scottish warrior turned hero of the Mexican revolution but also a little boy in search for his roots who scoured the vast world, looking for new identities, for new adventures so he could perform more amazing feats. She told so to the Scot. MacLeod, taken aback, answered that this may be true, but no matter what, he stayed Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod, player of the Game and lover of mortals.
MacLeod never obsessed over Ixcatzin and wasn’t a suspect when her Watcher reported her disappearance, MacLeod being away with Paul Karros fighting federal troops, and they were the only three immortals recorded present in Mexico City at that time. A great woman who supported the independence of Mexico and cordially despised Paul Karros, whom she saw as a revolutions-profiteer and opportuniçst who sacrificed mortal lives like pawns on a chessboard, and she told so to the Thracian immortal who strongly disagreed, but not to the extant of wanting to take her head.

Herself and two gypsy men. She was a well-known consort of Colombus until her confrontation against Spaniard Javier Valdez in 1538, a conflict that led to her disappearance. I like what you've done there with adding a new Pathfinder/Sentinel team. And i like the actresses you've chosen. Especially since I've just recently watched Black Panther lol!

Any suggestions you may have for the Americas would have any team here homebased in South America since most of the oldest civilisations in that part of the world originated there (the Incas, Mayans etc).

BTW Do you have the active and inactive Immortals of West Africa, only i just realised i missed that one out! Thanks in advance...

Well, Fire from the Sky could have faked those pregnancies and pretended her husband was the father of her children ,all foundlings. At least that's what the Watchers believe. In my story Fire from the Sky and her husband are the factual parents of those pre-Immortals : they are of age, i.e old and powerful enough to breed children. Apollo, the zones of research work for the Pathfinders are a bit too large for only three Immortals, maybe there should be more Pathfinders and more Sentinels. It would be interesting to have more S/P teams for the Orient, Asian, Middle Eastern and European regions. And especially Africa, a very large continent with a rich, tumultuous history.
Also, who are the Pathfinders and Sentinels for the Americas and Oceania ?

There is the legend in Eastern Africa about Fire from the Sky, a dark-faced woman of amazing powers who killed an African prince around 400 AD, triggering an earthquake and the biggest lighting inferno to grace the land of Kenya. The woman put such an impression on the Kenyans that they called her Fire from the Sky, the witch who rose from the dead and killed the Prince who put him to death, taking his head and drinking his essence. This folktale clearly describes an immortal, a challenge and a Quickening.
Fire from the Sky is recorded as having raised a tribe of twelve children - who started wandering Eastern Africa upon reaching adulthood and all died in wars, all of them bearing the name "Kenyatta" and rising from the dead. We do not know what happened of them. Fire from the Sky raised those children after marrying a local prince, himself an immortal and is said to have kept him aprt from the education of her childen, never letting him approach her daughters. She fought often, led her tribe in war and battles, and often illuminated the Kenyan sky with ligtnings. She is written to have lived six generations before burying her husband and disappearing with her children, thus marking the time of her diseappearance around 520 AD when she fought a battle against the legendary Sekou Nkruma, the warrior who turned into a doctor. Sekou lives to this day, we presume she won the battle, being such a formidable warrior and allowed him to live.

Research through well-preserved scrolls dating back to the time of Christ gave a description of Berenice, a woman of sainthood who walked with a cane, afflicted with a wound predating First Death. We can safely assumed the immortal Berenice lived through 2,000 years of mortal history going from ony Holy Ground to another and may have marked the history of mortalkind ssuming the identities of various sainted women – at least ones afflicted with a limp like Seraphia and Saint VeronicaBerenice may now be removed from the list of missing immortals and be recorded as deceased; her file is to be merged with the profile of the mysterious ‘Holy Woman of Jerusalem’.

Berenice, aka Seraphia, is the holy woman who allegedly wiped Jesus's face with a fresh cloth during his Passion and became immortal about at the same time that he did; the holy man not only performed miracles but attracted many immortals and pre-immortals arond him : Lazarus, Ahasuerus, the Sleeprs of Ephesus, Rebecca, Methos (allegedly), Marcus Constantine. Berenice lived in Jerusalem and around the middle-east territories for the following six centuries, helping the poor and infirm, spreding the word of Jesus and doing his will : good work in his name, until her untimely disappearance in Jerusalem, circa 670. Jerusalem being a Holy City, no challenge was ever issued in its history and it is safe to assume Berenice found a way to avoid the perils of the Game and will be seen among the last surviving immortals the day of the Gathering.

I remember racing against Irene at the time of the earthquake, I bet her fifty gold coins that I would win on the fourth and she agreed o it because she liked placing bets. To her, playing the Game already was placing a bet so she didn’t mind the gold coins. It’s not like a Quickening was going to be lost.
The crowd cheered as we ran around the coliseum and then the ground started moving, thousands of people screamed and I don’t remember quite clearly what happed, I know we ran for safety while everything started crumbling. We must have been trampled in the stampede. I was dug up from a pile of rubbles, called miraculous because I survived unscathed. I looked after Irene but could find no trace of her. I am sure she survived the earthquake, at least I believe so because if she had lost her head, I would have received her Quickening and I would feel her presence in me. I she is out there somewhere, I hope we can resume our race. I wonder how many gold coins she would ask this time.

From the Journals of Adam Pierson

Following further research by Special Projects, we can now affirm that Pathfinder Berenice of Jerusalem and her Sentinel protector Irene of Antioch were present at the Siege of Constantinople in 717-718 as Berenice rescued hundreds of ancient scrolls before the Byzantine Emperor Leo III the Isaurian had 300,000 books burned. She encountered Lalica in 718, at the Battle of Constantinople during Arab invasion of Byzantine Empire, fresh from having killed Immmortal Antarah ibn Shaddah. Both women were too busy to challenge each other. I

Yes! Love the new picture! She looks totally badaass. Good choice with Michael Ironside. Incidentally, he's always been one of my favourite actors, who can play both shady characters and good guys with a tough streak. Hated his character in Highlander II though (the entire film, tbh!). Playing The Apostate in this AU will hopefully eradicate the memory of his previous appearance from my memory lol

    his former disciple

Prometheus was always considered an apocryphal Immortal in the chronicles, i.e one whose real identity was unknownd and/or existence unverified. It is once again to the credit of the Ancient Immortals Watcher Research team that we could put a proof of Prometheus’ existence from the chronicles of the 11th century BC as having been murdered by his own disciple, the fallen hero Bellerophon.
Bellerophon once loved the ancient Immortal Methos and was loved by him. Is is not out place to discuss the ancient Immortal’s sexual life or choices in companions. What matters is that Bellerophon conceived an intense jealousy about Prometheus who also loved Methos and was loved by him. The amorous triangle between the three Immortals ended tragically when Bellerophon challenged his former teacher and killed him. Ironically, Methos killed Bellerophon two hundred years later after he joined three horsemen wearing masks, riding to the sun.
Was it the death of Prometheus which drove Methos over the edge. We shall never know, unless Methos himself decides to tell all.

I really love the actor choices you picked! A great mix of ethnicities that really suit the Immortals. Could use a more recent picture of Zhang Ziyi though to match the others lol

I chose Kotys as The Apostate since his age is near enough to that of the Grand Master that they would have crossed paths in their earlier years and a friendship most likely would have been formed such that Kotys would have been the ideal candidate for the Order's cleaner. His ruthlessness would have come from his devotion to the Order's mission and his determination to protect the Immortals who serve it.

    The updated stats for Kotys:

    The Apostate

    Cross-identified as Kotys the Hunter

First recorded sighting : Corinth, Greece. During the
Corinth War of 395-387 BC, Inconclusive fight
    against Cleophon of Athens

The immortal naming himself Kotys who fought Katherine in Samothrace, while she was searching for her roots, bore the hallmarks of ancient origins and was a past ennemy of the legendary Cleophon of Athens; he fought Katherine with ferocity and gusto, showing he wasn't afraid of a warrior-woman such as Katherine. Eventually he won the duel, but instead of killing the Samothracian woman he helped her to her feet and called her a true warrior, worthy of being ranked among the best fighters in the Game.
Kotys was a goddess worshipped with much revelry by Thracian tribes such as the Edonians in the festival Cotyttia. According to Greek sources her priests were called baptes or "washers" because their pre-worship purification rites involved bathing. Her worship included midnight orgies. Her name is believed to have meant "war, slaughter".
Katherine befriended Kotys who taught her not to just fight in the Game but also to savor life : to appreciate the beauty of the sunset in the morning, to marvel at the birth of a young child, to savor rare food and good wine, and to recover from the trauma she suffered in 256 after the massacre of her two companions and the violations she suffered from Dacian soldiers.
After two years, the two friends parted ways, Katherine became a changed person : not just a warrior, she would make a difference in the world of immortality as a teacher and bringer of life. It is thanks to the conversations between the two lovers we learnt that Koty’s teacher was a man once called Metopholus, a former identity of the elusive Methos. Kotys the Hunter travelled around Greece, changing his name to 'Nimrod', after the legendary hunter and former companion of Theseus; he fought often and disappeared in the Pelopponese around 854, believed to have been killed by the Roman headhunter Lucius Oranius Capito. British Watchers suggest he may have survived his encounter with Capito.

A notable "villain" of the Bronze Age, Holofernes has made his mark on history as the victim of the fabled Judith who decapitated him with help from her handmaiden, a scene depicted in paintings countless of times, including a famous one by Artemissia Gentileschi, aka Immortal Artemissia of Helicarnassos.. Holofernes knew the true sense of terror and made a point of terrorizing and enslaving the populations of the countries and kingdoms he conquered, thus making his teacher very proud. His teacher was Kronos, my brother, thus making of Holofernes my nephew by association.
Well, Holofernes, Kronos and I shared one trait of character : a definite weakness for women. This weakness allowed Cassandra to "kill" Kronos and escape from him (I remember she nearly castrated him with her own teeth) and Judith of Bethulia to reach him with her handmaiden (who may have been Elishevah of Samaria, her teacher) and decapitated him with a knife. His muffled screams for help were mistaken for orgiastic screams and when his body was found, it was too late : Judith and her friend had vanished like a puff of smoke.

I really get a kick at writing those entries for the Watcher's chronicles because it allows me to disclose the fates of lesser-known Immortals of the Bronze Age and also to make my presence known as the sole contemporary Immortal Watcher. I said contemporary, guys... Get it ? Yes, it may be childsih, but at my age one can afford to be childish sometimes.

    Encounter with Deoneces of Sparta

According to Plutarch's biography of Alexander the Great, when his forces took Thebes during Alexander's Balkan campaign of 335 BC, Thracian forces pillaged the city, and a captain of the Thracian forces raped an Immortal woman named Timocleia, identified as such by Cleophon of Athens, at this time a commander in the Macedonian cavalry and serving on Alexander's command staff. After raping her, the captain asked if she knew of any hidden money. She told him that she did, and led him into her garden, and told him there was money hidden in her well. When the Thracian captain stooped to look into the well, Timoclea pushed him into the well, and then hurled heavy stones into the well until the captain was dead.
Timoclea was seized by the Thracian soldiers and brought before Alexander the Great. She comported herself with great dignity and told Alexander that her brother was Theagenes, last commander of the Theban Sacred Band, who died "for the liberty of Greece" at the Battle of Chaeronea in 338 BC, defeated by Alexander's father Philip of Macedon. Alexander was so impressed with Timocleia that he ordered her and her children released and she was not punished for killing the Thracian captain.
Timoclea became Cleophon'slover from 335 to 326 BC and parted ways with him, nt seen by Watchers before 272 BC in Pyrrhus, Sparta, when she lad Spartan warriors alongside Deoneces (Cleophon's disciple) and Kyra of Sparta. The three Immortals fought side by side and also did a luscious menage à trois in the bed between two battles.

Izdihar was a tyoung Immortal but she played the Game with a passion only matched by her prowesses in bed. A mistress of the sword and of sexuality, luring men like moths to the flame. Her last known quarry was Selim Ubadah who was en route to Hatra when he was taken by a desert sand storm and lost for a time, his Watcher having presumably suffocated to death I nthe sand. 400 AD Immortals census for Middle Eastern countries lists Izdihar among the missing.

Seraphina taught what she could to the Immortal boy she mentored in the Eighth century but where Amanda the thief taught trickery and deceit to Kenneth the Saxon and forgetting his existence for the following eight hundred years, Seraphina the Roman gladiatrix taught Smerdis to use speed and agility to evade aggressive Immortals and to never try eating a meal he couldn’t chew, i.e she didn’t turn him into an aggressive player of the Game. Seraphina and Smerdis stayed together for two decades before the boy felt he had grown enough and wanted to strike on his own. For three hundred years he avoided the Game, ran from Immortals he felt could hurt him and proved to be very good at hiding in plain sight; in the mortal world he hired himself as squire to knights or armies officers who would need him and he had a knack at making himself useful : imagine, a boy with the life-experience of a three hundred years old man ! Smerdis disappeared from our chronicles in 1017, during the invasion of Khwarezm by Sultan Mamhud of the Ghaznavid, Jamal Labdouni and Taher Ibn Hamed Al Jaber founders of the Swords of Allah were present and while we cannot prove for certain Smerdis was killed by Labdouni or by Al Jaber, he would have been but an appetizer to the two conquering Muslims.

Commanding invading troops of Mithridates VI of

    Hunted and killed by Cassandra
The earlier chronicles of Cassandra read like a long road of revenge against men abusing and raping women across the world, as if the ancient seer had a score to settle with those who enslave and torture innocent women, maybe a remainder of the constant abuse and torture she suffered at the hands of Methos whern she was a slave of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Case in point, Krillos of Armenia, a general in the army of Persia who came from Armenia Minor and served Mithriades of Pontus, responivble for a massacre of civilians on the sacred Island of Delos in 88 Bc where Cassandra served as the oracle of Delos. For five decades, Cassandra hunted Krillos and finally found him in the Kingdom of Pontus where she challenged him before his men. Krillos had a good laugh, but laughed no more when he held his spilling innards between his hands, defeated in minutes by Cassandra’s savage sword.
The Quickening of Krillos was long and powerful. Later research in the Brzone Age chronicles indicate he was birn in the 37th century BC and was a disciple of Oromedon of Urkesh.

In 2334 BC, Semitic chieftain Sargon of Akkad's conquest of Sumer and Mesopotamia occured, aided by Japeth who betrayed his king to Sargon of Akkad and paid the ultimate priuce for his betryal when Gilgamesh sought him out, took his head and triggered such a massive Quickening that Sargon died from a heart attack when he was told Gilmaesh was a god who commanded to the natural elements.
