  • Highlander: The American Dream mini-series from IDW

    http://www.newsarama.com/34059-conno...n-dream-3.html

I've personally only read the first issue, but I'm wondering what the consensus is from others. How is this series coming along?

I've read the first two issues so far.
Had some doubts about the profession of Osta Vasilek but overall I think it's rather good.
It has all the right ingredients and the tone, art and setting match up pretty well.

Yeah, I've read the first three issues. I think it's coming along quite well! The writer is actually well-versed, at least, in the movie lore. The artist is very good and quite detail oriented. There is a mortal man stalking Connor, who may or may not really be aware that he's dealing with immortals. There are a couple of cases where statements made don't seem accurate to the situation, but since they are expressed as the opinion of a character, perhaps they are not that important.

I've no idea these were out. I don't know if I could go through the effort to hunt these down, but I'll think about it. That being said, I can't wait to read them.

I'll wait for the collected edition myself, but it looks rather promising.

(Unlike that awful mess, Highlander 3030, that never had a second issue btw, if I'm not mistaken...)

You're not mistaken about the second issue. But it wasn't an awful mess. Many people did their best to bring an original story but like other Highlander productions it encountered hard times and delays. Maybe some time in the future we'll see the script for issue #2. The winners of the contest to have their image 'immortalized' in the comics would most likely been placed in a big crowd scene in issue #3. That is all the info I can share.

Maybe a script. But I'm fairly certain their license with Davis is expired.

I may pick them up on Comixology. (I've already checked--they're available.) No rush. I'll probably wait for an IDW sale.

Though, if you want more Highlander comics to be greenlit, it all depends upon the sales figures now, not months later -- if sales aren't good enough with this series (which is very much a "canary-in-the-coal-mine" test balloon by IDW), we won't be seeing any more, period. So make sure you snag 'em as soon as possible!

Seriously, IS that a legal website? Does reading it there help to convince IDW that this comic is worth the expense?

No clue, but some people like to try before they buy.

Apparently, it is not a legal site.

^ But if you can get it for free, chances are you're simply going to decide to not spend the money on the actual physical issues, and right now the Highlander comics series needs every last sale it can get. There's a big difference between a legal 3-4 page preview and putting the entire issue up for free without permission.

Comixology is having a line-wide IDW sale right now. Everything is 55% off, so you can buy all 5 issues for $5.40.

Man, I need to get this. Probably a CHristmas buy, which should be fine.

                          It's definitely worth a read.
