Anyone else watching? I'm really enjoying it, as someone who read all the books and played all the games I think they have done it justice. Definitely not for child viewing though if you have any!

I intend to watch it after I'm done with the books. I imagine the multiple timelines is an attempt at capturing the puzzle piece nature of the book, which I very much enjoy. The reading the books is like having to solve a series of riddles. Watching a show is a passive occupation, you sit back and are entertained, reading is more active where you co-create the universe with the writer in your own mind. Trying to translate from a book to a show, especially one with complex plotlines like Sapkowski's, is bound to run into issues.

So, I finally finished reading all of the books today, including the two short stories (The Road with No Return & Something ends, Something begins) that didn't get an official English translation. I binged watched all of season 1. I mistakenly assumed that the show would not go past the second book of short stories, Sword of Destiny, however it actually pulls information from all of the books. My recommendation would be to read the entire books series, plus the two short stories (the fan translations are available online) before watching the show. There were complaints from reviews online about how the timeline was confusing, but if you read the books it is not difficult to navigate at all. There were some sweet sweet sword choreographies which I thoroughly enjoyed. The characters were well cast. My only complaint is with Geralt's voice, it's really deep and gritty as if the actor was trying too hard to be hypermasculine. I was told that the actor might be imitating the games, which I haven't played. I did listen to a clip from The Hexer which is the Polish TV series based off of the books and preferred the voice of that Geralt. The writers did a fantastic job with the source material and I look forward to watching season 2.
