        • I agree.

Question is, would John Ray Fielding gain some madness or powers of illusion, both or none?

Never saw his powers as illusion so much as suggestion or hypnosis.

        • I barely remember Fielding and I don't remember him being that good. I think Garrick was good when he fought Richie and terrible when he fought Duncan. I'm going to assume there were personal reasons for him being sloppy against Duncan so I'm going to say he would probably take Fielding. But I'm okay if Fielding advances.

I'm inclined towards Darius. I think he is far more intelligent, and you do subtract for arrogance.

                • Well, if it actually comes to a fight, Darius, but I also have visions of Walter running away, waving his sword, and throwing Shakespeare quotes at his opponent who has hiked up his robes and is giving chase just to end the irritation.

                  Comment

                  • Definitely an interesting fight. Walter starts spouting Shakespeare quotes and poems by Eugene Field. Darius responds with Bible scriptures. In the end, it is Walter's speed advantage that leads him to the victory.

The question here is what Walter gains from the Quickening. We know what happened to Darius as a result of his last Quickening and how much it effected him. Walter sees things in a whole new light. He sits afterwards, contemplating his life and everything that has lead up to this moment. His fighting knowledge has grown considerably.. He seess Darius lead his army across the continent, with their goal to reach the sea and conquer everything along the way. He sees as Darius approaches the gates of Paris and the battle with Emrys and what changed him. Walter knows he will have to fight, but he finds himself full of dread about it. He gathers some of his favorites books and goes to holy ground to contemplate his own future and what has to happen now.

                    • Can a quickening make an immortal lame? lol

Kahn will slaughter Benny. Benny might manage to pull out his sword if he even owns one. It is probably a sword he got from Bud K. After the Quickening, Kahn has this odd urge to go find a card game. Kahn picks up the ability to pick pockets but not very well. He will pretty much ignore anything he gets from Benny's Quickening.

                            • I like Kiem Sun but I've little doubt Zai Jie would take him. Zai held his ground with the Guardian which says a lot. I don't think Kiem Sun could stand his attacks very long before Zai would get through. I also think Sun would have a tough time getting through Zai's defense. Not super close, Zai wins.

                              • I think Zai Jie will take it.

Kiem is so obsessed with making his potion and has been for centuries. Zai gets wind of this through mortal connections and track Kiem Sun down. He tries to put some brain-washed lackeys between himself and Zai. But the kwanlow still has not been perfected. The most recent batch, Kiem Sun made in a rush because he knew someone was coming for him. Zai didn't really try to cover his tracks when looking. The lackeys fall out before even getting to Zai. Kiem puts up a good front but Zai handles him fairly easily.During the quickening, Zai sees all of Kiem Sun's fear and paranoia. He sees his discovery of the scrolls and writings of the kwanlo. He sees Kiem Suns successes and failures, mostly failures. When the Quickening has finished, Zai gathers himself and starts to leave. He sees all of Kiem Sun's notes and gets curious. The more he reads,, the more interested he becomes. When he leaves, he takes all of Kiem Sun's work and materials with him.

                                    • All the stats seem to point to Nick. But Kagan has a much better idea of immortality and how a fight like this should go. So, I am going to go with Lucas Kagan. The Quickening won't give much beyond some firearms knowledge. I'm sure Nick picked up some of Amanda's theft skills. During the Quickening, Lucas sees this and gets curious about Amanda. She is beautiful and a master thief. He knows he could learn a lot from her.... after he kills her. Kagan packs his belongings and begins to search her out.

                                      • Yeah, I think we've given Nick Wolfe way too many stat points but Kagan's about right. He was an absolute dud. He's just not a fighter. Wolfe is a trained cop and while I don't think he'd hold up to most of the immortals in this tournament, Kagan is one of the worst fighters who actually owns a sword. I think this is about as sloppy of a fight as it could be but I think Wolfe would walk away with his head.

Honestly, I can see Nick going after Kagan and Kagan trying to shoot him. Wolfe is likely better with a gun than Kagan and still wins.
