  • Farewell Ursula K. Le Guin

I read with sadness this evening that Ursula K. Le Guin, one of the great writers of science fiction and fantasy stories, passed away yesterday.

I read her Earthsea Trilogy when I was in my teens and really enjoyed it. I was so pleased when it was made into a mini-series. One of my other favorites was "The Lathe of Heaven", which was also made into a very entertaining movie.

This link has a lot more info:
The author, best known for works such as the Earthsea series and The Left Hand of Darkness, used her fantastic realms to grapple with difficult themes. She leaves a legacy as a literary trailblazer.

I had read so few of her works. All of the Earthsea books, though. I think some I did read, but so long ago, they only niggle at my memory.

I'm going to have to seek out Rocannon's World, Planet of Exile, City of Illusions. The Word for World is Forest is clangoring as something I must have read, but I cannot remember it from the blurbs online!
