Hello Everyone of the Highlander Community:

In the earlier part of this century, probably a little over twenty years ago, after lurking for awhile, I became an active member of the Highlander Community. At that time I chose the name avatar101. Until this last spring, I hadn't learned that there was renewed energy to reboot the franchise, this time with Henry Cavill and director Chad Stahelski. The frustrating and too often disappointing history of this franchise has not been forgotten, however one does continue to see the occasional media piece on possible progress towards filming a movie. I will gladly join the chorus of happy fans if that happens.

After lurking for a few months, I'm ready to take the plunge and write a post. Being older and more experienced, if not any wiser, I have chosen an updated name, avatar404. 404 could be a university course identifier, an telephone area code (not ours), or a computer error code, so it works for me.

I recognize a few familiar names have posted this year, not the least AndrewNDB. I've also read that some of the community members have passed and are no longer with us. It will be strange not to see Bluesman popping in and popping off.

    So. Back into the black.
    Again: Hello Everyone!

    Hello Avatar,

Nice to have you rejoin the fray! This place isn't what it once was (I've been here since 2007), but the more the merrier.

      Greetinigs Cyrus the Great:

I've seen your name as being one of the most active current members, I fairly confident I remember you and Dragon Katana.
Twenty years ago the Highland Board couldn't have been described as the hottest place Web, however those who enjoyed the series could gather and we did have some fun.
Maybe that message board was of it's time, and isn't as useful here in the advanced year of 2024?
Nevertheless, here we are! Hopefully the latest reboot plans take root and then take flight.

So happy to see you! Well, many fans are on Facebook. That was really where I knew Bluesman and talked with him. This name turned out not to be the one I'd used on this forum in the wayback. I did use it somewhere else. Welcome back!

Welcome back, Avatar404. I do remember your name. I initially joined this place way back in 2001. The halcyon days of the forum, fresh off the release of Highlander: Endgame....ah those were the days when the forum was absolutely bustling with activity.

I don't use Facebook at all, so I don't really keep in touch with any Highlander fans. I just visit this old haunt from time to time. Mostly for the memories I suppose.....

This might be a little like having amnesia. n107 is familiar, however I don't remember why. I think I should know n107, however I don't know why. Maybe I will get a sharp blow to the head, or to the psyche, and it will all come back to me. I appreciate the welcome, nonetheless. BTW, did you find your keys?

Hello to you, dubiousbystander. I'm guessing a Highlander fan by any name. I'm guessing I should also know you? damn.

There are some pleasant memories, Dragon Katana. This does feel a bit like driving by the house you used to live in, seeing the old neighborhood. I remember it as an enjoyable place to haunt, and be haunted by. The creativity and passion of the community had an effect on me that has lingered.

I do appreciate you folks posting a note in this thread. I don't do Facebook, either. I was bitten by the Highlander bug in 1986, so it is good to check in with other people who have been captivated at one time and another.

That sums it up perfectly. The Highlander forum reminds me of more youthful, simpler times. I was about 18 years old when I joined the forum. I'm 41 years old now

A lot of time has past since then. I've seen this forum go from an absolute hive of activity to a desolate waste ground where only the few remain but strangely the memories are still strong.

I became a Highlander fan circa 1997. I joined the board in 2001. In 2006 I went to the only HLWW convention on British soil in Leeds. I even got to meet some of the forum members in person.

The forum wasn't just a place to go to chat about Highlander. It felt like 'family' in many ways.

DK, I agree a community had formed and each individual posting breathed life into it.
It was a creative community, at that. I use past tense only because I don't see much in the way of recent postings.
I remember you Dragon Katana, coolwater, el-nora, ertia, n107, mathpiglet; Jeremy Orr and Andrew Modeen; John Mosby and Peter Briggs; and of course the list could go on.
Are people posting their creations elsewhere, or has the Highlander Immortal vein been thoroughly mined?

I remember most of those names - a few more than spring to mind are Scorpion, Quen Tin, Masterfulks, Stones, EROM, Bev, Katana Swordsman, Macleod_83, Elle Nora, Blues (RIP), Eric (RIP), Katana Tiger (RIP), VioletStar, Smee, Immortal Emperor....so many nice people, so many interesting conversations we had.

I think what happened was when the board got hacked circa 2017 all accounts were lost and a lot of users just didn't bother returning. Also with Social Media most jumped over to Facebook and I think most Highlander fans are on that now.

I'm more of a traditionalist. Even though this forum is quiet I much prefer it here. I don't do Facebook.

I had already drifted away on my own before the hack occurred. It's been about four years since I turned away from Facebook for the second time. I don't quite understand the appeal of that platform.

You've reminded me of some people from those days, Dragon Katana": Quen Tin, Stones, Masterfulks. Now I also know Katana Tiger has passed. During my wandering through this board I also came across an announcement that Bladelover had also passed away. To your knowledge, is that correct?

I believe it is correct, avatar:

Maybe one day we will see a resurgence and the forum will return to the glory days. You never know the reboot of the franchise might breathe new life into the Intellectual Property for the Highlander brand.

You may already know this but the original producers for Highlander have passed on. Bill Panzer died 2007 and Peter Davis died 2021.

I think I should know me, too, and similarly I don't remember why.

I also don't know if I found my keys but if I had, I've lost them again. But it matters not; I learned an easy way to open the window using nothing but a brick.

Thank you for posting the Bladelover link, Dragon Katana. I read it through and as you can see, posted.

I was away from home for the better part of three weeks, and returned home with a touch of the flu. More than a touch, the crud has a good hold on me. I seem to be on the upswing now.

n107, without bricking me in the head, your posts and writing style (laced with your sense of humor) are jogging a memory along.
